1111 Etcheverry Computer Lab Policy


Your DECF account gives you access to the computer lab in 1111 Etcheverry. Below are important information and rules on lab use.

Help:

See the online help files, email the DECF Consult, or visit staff office hours.

Disk Quotas:

Each DECF account comes with a default disk quota. You may use our Account Management Tool to check your disk usage. See the "Disk Quota Help Page" for details on disk quota.

Screen lock on workstations:

Screen locks may not be used to lock a workstation longer than 15 minutes. Inactive sessions longer than 15 minutes will be terminated.

Power Off:

You are not allowed to power off the workstations. Users who violate this rule may have their account privileges revoked.

Printing:

You may use the printers in 1111 for instructional-related use. Do not take the paper out of the printers. Users who violate this rule may have their account privileges revoked.

Remote access:

Users may connect to the 1111 Etcheverry or Archipelagos machines, and run certain applications remotely. See the "SSH How-to" for instructions on how to connect remotely.

Your password:

Users may change or reset their passwords using our Account Tools. It takes 15 minutes for new passwords to become effective.

Common Sense in the computer lab:

No food, no drinks, no pornographic screen displays, no video games.

Account Renewal:

Eligible accounts are automatically renewed at the end of each semester.
